Setup & Security Guide

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of protection to your account. Instead of just entering your password, you’ll also confirm your identity using a second method — such as a text message code or an authentication app.

Why MFA Keeps You Safe

  • Passwords can be stolen — through phishing emails, malware, or weak/reused passwords.
  • MFA stops attackers even if they have your password — because they still need the extra code from your phone or app.
  • It protects sensitive data — especially if you handle personal information or business-critical files.
  • It reduces account takeovers — Microsoft reports MFA can block over 99% of automated attacks.

Think of MFA as adding an extra locked door — even if someone manages to unlock the first door, the second one keeps them from gaining access

Step-by-Step: How to Set Up MFA

1. Sign in to your account

2. Start MFA setup

  • If MFA is required, you’ll be prompted to set it up after signing in.
  • Click Sign in when asked to add additional security.

3. Setup your authentication app

  • Authentication App (Recommended)
    • Download Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator on your smartphone.
    • Scan the QR code on the screen.

  • Click Continue
  • Enter the 6-digit code from the app  >  Click Verify.

5. Finish and test

  • Sign out by clicking Logout on the next screen and sign back in to make sure your MFA is working.
  • You should be prompted for your extra code after entering your password.

Tips for Using MFA

  • Keep your phone secure — use a PIN, fingerprint, or face unlock.

  • Don’t approve sign-in requests you didn’t make — it could be someone trying to break in.
