You may set up your Stock nominals and codes before you start entering stock valuations or you may add the codes as you go along. See Setting up Stock in the General Setup section.

Opening Stocks

Opening Balances for Stocks are entered from the Settings menu > Opening Balances. See Opening Balances for further details.

If the value of the Stocks in that nominal are known then enter this on the opening balances screen.

Select the Update icon to enter the individual Stocks. The new screen will display the Stock nominal which is being updated, at the top.

The screen will display any Stock codes which have already been set up and linked to the Stock Nominal. There should be no figures in the Current values and the Opening values will be entered in the New Quantity and New Value columns. There must be a Valuation Change nominal entered on each stock line before the screen can be saved.

The icon beside the Required outstanding balance will change to a green tick once the correct total of stock has been entered. If the total was not entered on the first screen, click on Save then enter the correct total so that the front screen has the green tick.

Stock Valuations

Stock valuations are entered through the Daybook menu>Stock Valuation. Click on Add then select the stock nominal you wish to use. Enter the date of the valuation and click on Add again:

The opening stock values are displayed on the left side. Enter the new values in the columns for New Quantity and New Value. Ensure there is a Valuation change nominal in that column. If there is no change in the value of certain stocks you do not have to enter a new value:

The valuation transactions are listed in the same way as the rest of the daybook. To edit a valuation just click on the Txn no.

Stock Register

This screen shows the details of all the stock valuations:

To check the progress of a specific stock, use the Filter or the Search facilities to just display one stock item.
